Bacon Begins 2025 In Winning Ways
Tyre-Line & C R Products backed rider, Joe Bacon, has opened his 2025 DQR British Championship account in winning style..
Round 1 of the DQR British Championship kicked off on Sunday, April 6th at Coney Green, with a great turnout of 80+ riders in very hot, dry, dusty conditions.
The dry conditions in the run-up to the race made the track hard and rutty, and the soaring temperatures on the day made all the races a hard task.
Tyre-Line & C R Products backed rider, Joe Bacon, took an incredible 1st round win, finishing almost 9 minutes clear of second place. Joe sent us the following report from his incredible day :-
"2 days after Round 1 of the DQR British Championship season, the ache has well and truly sunk in but winning hasn’t quite hit yet. Finally a strong start to a season.
Going into it I had a little more nerves than usual, after the sighting lap they were well and truly verified. The track was rough everywhere, 2/3ft rolling whoops and bumps everywhere. If there was a single spot of smooth I certainly couldn’t find it. Then just to add the thick haze of dust made it nearly impossible to see the rider in front.
I knew a good start was crucial and getting 2nd of the line was good enough for me. Jostling for position all the way into the woods had me going in 3rd until an open door of a pass to 2nd was there for the taking. Taking advantage of that I settled in and started to hunt down 1st place who had already taken advantage of no dust in front and left me. Knowing longevity would be crucial in a race this rough I saved my arms from arm pump and steadily caught 1st place made the pass and completed the 2nd lap in 1st place which I kept and extended to a 8+ minute gap over 2nd by the end of the race."
"Fortunately and unfortunately that was solely a race of attrition and the willingness to push rider and machine through the rough track and thick dust. So I believe the real show of racing will start at round 2 in 5 weeks.
Speedy recovery to those involved in the crash & fire. Awful to see and I hope everyone is okay."
The championship now moves onto Rd 2 @ Chacombe on the 11th May, where Joe hopes to continue his winning ways.
